Orders Munch Art Theft Suspect Held
OSLO,
Norway -- A Norwegian court on Monday ordered a suspect in the brazen
daytime theft of two Edvard Munch masterpieces jailed for four weeks
pending investigation and possible indictment. The 37-year-old Norwegian
was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the Aug. 22. raid of
the Munch Museum in Oslo.

YORK -- Philippe de Montebello, director of the Metropolitan Museum
of Art, has been cited by an international art and antique dealers
group for his lifetime contribution to the arts. Montebello will
receive the CINOA Prize at the organization's general assembly meeting
in New York, where it will discuss and report on the state of the
arts.

of 101 gives $350,000 to the Orlando Museum of Art
ORLANDO,
FL -- The Council of 101, an organization dedicated to supporting
the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA), continued its extraordinary record
of giving when it presented the OMA with $350,000 at its Annual
Spring Luncheon on April 28. The Council of 101 derives its revenue
from the Festival of Trees held annually in November and
the Council of 101 Antiques Show & Sale held annually
in the spring.

Gonzalez Appointed Curator of Jazz Programming for Miami Performing
Arts Center
MIAMI
-- MPAC Artistic Director Justin Macdonnell today announced the
appointment of jazz critic and producer Fernando Gonzalez as the
Centers Curator of Jazz Programming, effective immediately.
In this position, Gonzalez will help create and develop programs
in jazz and in related improvised contemporary music for MPACs
indoor and outdoor stages.
