Linda Brant
Watercolor Artist / Sculptor
Linda
Brant is a watercolor artist and sculptor from Orlando, FL. She holds
a doctoral degree in Psychology, working part-time at the University
of Central Florida and part-time as an independent artist.
Linda has been creating art since she was a child. Many of the concepts
behind her current work are inspired by literature and expressed through
motifs found in the natural world. Somerset Maugham, Hermann Hesse,
Jack Kerouac and Carlos Castaneda are among her favorite writers. Crushed
rocks, dried leaves, insects, tree bark, glass fragments and spider
webs have all been sources of inspiration to her. She uses interesting
ideas, feelings, experiences - even dreams - as a starting point for
creating imaginative and expressive 2-D and 3-D images.
Most of Linda's paintings are done in watercolor on Arches 300 lb.
paper. Her technique involves the application of numerous layers of
watercolor followed by ink pen, charcoal, soft pastel or colored pencil
to accent.
Linda has exhibited her work at numerous gallery shows in Central
Florida including the Red Chair Affair (2006), Crealde School of Art
Juried Student Show (2007), Best of Florida Artist's Registry Annual
Show (2007), Osceola Center for the Arts Annual Juried Show (2007) and
Orlando Museum of Art's 1st Thursdays Program (2005-2008). She has regularly
exhibited in regional outdoor art festivals including the Maitland Rotary
Art Festival, Orlando's Fiesta in the Park, Deland Fall Art Festival,
Santa Fe Community College Spring Arts Festival, Volvo Mayfaire by the
Lake and Gainesville's Annual Downtown Festival and Art Show.
