Jim Helsinger
Artistic Director, Actor, Producer
Jim
Helsinger has directed, acted and/or produced over 100 professional
productions throughout the country. His directing work includes Hamlet,
The Imaginary Invalid, Antony and Cleopatra, Every Christmas Story Ever
Told, The Comedy of Errors, Richard III, Tartuffe, The Two Gentlemen
of Verona, A Midsummer Nights Dream and The Taming of the
Shrew for the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival, where he serves
as Artistic Director, as well as The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr
(abridged), The Big Bang, The Fourposter, Charley's Aunt, Good Evening,
Sleuth, King Mackerel and the Blues Are Running, Stones in His Pockets
and A Tuna Christmas at such theatres as the Actors Theatre
of Louisville, The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Florida Studio
Theatre, Cape May Stage and others.
As an actor, he has performed Off-Broadway in The Death and Life
of Sherlock Holmes, The Taming of the Shrew, and The Contrast;
regionally in the title roles of Cyrano de Bergerac, Hamlet, Gross
Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Dracula, and Henry
V; and in TV and film in From the Earth to the Moon, Noah Knows
Best, Mortal Kombat, and Sheena, Queen of the Jungle.
As a playwright, his productions include: Dracula: The Journal
of Jonathan Harker; Frankenstein, The Modern Prometheus; The Trial of
Joan the Maid and A Christmas Carol, in Five Parts, and Robinson
Crusoe.
He is a member of Actor's Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild,
The American Federation of Radio and Television Artists, the National
Theatre Conference, and the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America.
He serves as a faculty member of the University of Central Florida,
is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) and holds an MFA from the Alabama
Shakespeare Festival/University of Alabama Professional Actor Training
Program.
